Top 5 Ways To Entertain The Kids These Holidays

We know, we know – given the chance, the kids could spend the fortnight playing Fortnite without seeing a blink of sunlight. We also know it can take some pretty special stuff to get them away from their screens – which is why we’ve organised an epic fortnight of school holiday fun!

With two weeks of unlimited adventures, there’s something to suit everyone. Check out the whole lineup here, or keep reading for a few quick ideas.

Step under the sea

Join Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol SEA Patrol at Sea Life Sydney Aquarium for an underwater voyage that’s out of this world. Kids get their own adventure map and a custom sticker sheet so they can keep track of every time they spot a PAW Patrol pup among the fishy attractions. Along the way they’ll also discover some of the world’s most amazing underwater creatures, including Pig the Dugong and the cast from The Real Penguins of Sydney.

A wild time with Sherlock Gnomes

Got some young film buffs on your hands? Take the kids to the see the exciting new movie Sherlock Gnomes at any Events Cinema and then whisk them away to WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo for an arvo with the animals. For all of April, kids go free with a paying adult when they present an Event Cinemas Sherlock Gnomes movie ticket upon purchase. They’ll get to meet and greet their favourite characters, make their very own gnome hat at craft stations, and follow an exclusive trail throughout the zoo so they can ‘find their way gnome’.

Explore the waves

Sail over to the Australian National Maritime Museum for a whale of a time. Kids of all ages can experience activities inspired by the exhibition Arctic Voices, as well as 2018 Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Then there’s the hands-on fun! Kids can make their own art, play games and do dress-ups in Kids on Deck, explore touchable Arctic objects at the Cabinet of Curiosities and enjoy interactive circus performances. There’s the new 3D film, Oceans: Our Blue Planet to wow them, photography and music video workshops, and even an after-dark Torchlight Tour!

Let’s get cookin’

Kids get to make the best kind of mess while they learn how to make some yum and fun dishes. At Blackbird Cafe, pizza maestro Salvatore D’Avalo will teach kids how to perfect pizza, taking them through mixing, making and kneading the dough, plus pizza acrobatics and entertainment! Then, at Grill’d Harbourside, kids can become burger experts, and learn a thing or two about healthy eating, too. Bon appetit!

Find friendship in the garden

Surrounded by the beautiful, zen scenery of the Chinese Garden of Friendship, kids can have fun with paper art and learn about Chinese culture. In the Chinese zodiac, the dog is a symbol of loyalty, honesty, and friendship. Until Friday 20 April kids can take part in a mask-making workshop where they can decorate their own dog mask. Then, from Monday 23 – Friday 27 April, they can learn the ancient art of Chinese paper folding, crafting a butterfly, a boat, or hat, to keep or gift to a loved one.

And don’t forget the daily fish feeding!
